D | Die Illustrative berlin 06
Die Illustrative aus den Kunsthallen am Pfefferberg,
soll als zentrale Ausstellung fur zeitgenössische Illustration
in Deutschland fur den Standort Berlin und fur die Kunstdisziplin
Illustration/ Grafik werben.
Die Illustrative Berlin 06 als erste Ausstellung hat sich in diesem
Jahr bewusst auf eine Auswahl deutscher Künstler beschrankt.
Dies deshalb, weil der hohe Stellenwert der Illustration in der Kunstwelt
in den bedeutenen Kunstmarkten unbestritten, in Deutschland jedoch
noch nicht anerkannt ist.
Mit Illustration verbinden in Deutschland noch viele Kunstkritiker,
Magazin-Art Direktoren oder Sammler klassische Buchillustrationen,
vielleicht Grafik-Design oder Comics.
Dass bereits zahlreiche deutsche Künstler tonangebend
in den USA ausgestellt werden und hohe Auktionspreise erzielen,
ist hierzulande kaum bemerkt worden.

E | The "ILLUSTRATIVE BERLIN 06"
exhibition is the first of its kind being hold in Germany
and representing contemporary illustrative art.
Showcased are over 100 works from 20 international
established artists who live and work in Germany.
The exhibition focuses mainly on previously unpublished
works of the new generation in the illustrative field.
The illustrators have been already celebrated as pioneers of
a very diverse emerging scene, successfully established and
consequently ignored by representatives of the classicart.
Many artists ironically have twisted themselves into
a creative doppelganger:
on one hand, commissioned works for magazines like
New Yorker or Rolling Stones,on another their own graphics
still very much nurtured by traditions of illustrative arts
(medieval Bible prints for example) but questioned and re-defined
as for our present times.
Their chosen mediums and their technical platforms vary from woodcut
through etching to graffiti, installations, drawings and 3D pictures,
not to mention classical painting.
